Psalm 103 The Message (MSG)

A David Psalm

103 1-2 O my soul, bless God.
From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name!
O my soul, bless God,
don’t forget a single blessing!

3-5 He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.

6-18 God makes everything come out right;
he puts victims back on their feet.
He showed Moses how he went about his work,
opened up his plans to all Israel.
God is sheer mercy and grace;
not easily angered, he’s rich in love.
He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold,
nor hold grudges forever.
He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve,
nor pay us back in full for our wrongs.
As high as heaven is over the earth,
so strong is his love to those who fear him.
And as far as sunrise is from sunset,
he has separated us from our sins.
As parents feel for their children,
God feels for those who fear him.
He knows us inside and out,
keeps in mind that we’re made of mud.
Men and women don’t live very long;
like wildflowers they spring up and blossom,
But a storm snuffs them out just as quickly,
leaving nothing to show they were here.
God’s love, though, is ever and always,
eternally present to all who fear him,
Making everything right for them and their children
as they follow his Covenant ways
and remember to do whatever he said.

19-22 God has set his throne in heaven;
he rules over us all. He’s the King!
So bless God, you angels,
ready and able to fly at his bidding,
quick to hear and do what he says.
Bless God, all you armies of angels,
alert to respond to whatever he wills.
Bless God, all creatures, wherever you are—
everything and everyone made by God.

And you, O my soul, bless God!

Bless the Lord and All that is within me Bless His Holy Name!!

How recently have you been in AWE of the Lord’s great goodness in your life? When truly was the last time you literally felt overwhelmed by the unconditional, abundant and unmerited goodness and grace of the Creator of the Universe?

I have recently returned from a week long trip with 21 other believers to minister to the folks of Stephens Community and Petros in east Tennessee.

We went to be a blessing and to serve and minister hope and salvation and the good news of Christ’s love to the people of that area and we were literally overwhelmed with the love and blessings of the Lord from the folks at Family Worship Center.

Our team worked with such dedication and diligence at the tasks that were presented to them with no complaining or strife, only each one trying to out serve the other with a heart of gentleness and grace that was SO refreshing in this day and age of self-serving and entitlement we seem to be bombarded with from so many fronts.

As we were preparing to leave at week’s end our team gathered with some of the leaders of FWC and we were sincerely submerged with gratitude and genuine heartfelt love from each one as they told how much our sacrifice of time and resources and work meant to their congregation and to the people of the community.

Many in our group were overcome with the joy of the Lord and tears flowed as expressions of appreciation for our love and service to God’s people. Many from that team are already looking forward to the return long weekend trip we have scheduled for this November.

Currently, we are involved with the Summer Groups at Wherry Housing in Smyrna, TN through Community Servants. Each year for the past 21 summers groups have come from far and wide. Youth groups, college and high school as well as middle school groups and even some “more seasoned in age” folks have made their way to the campus at Wherry Housing to serve in acts of helps and kindness in our community.

These groups do a little of everything from painting to demolition and remodeling to lawn-care in helping to make Wherry Housing a better place to live for our elderly, widows, single moms and refugees that call it their Home.

We will continue to be heavily involved throughout the remainder of the summer until our last group leaves on August 1st.

This past week, as I sat in my living room studying and reading in the Psalms I was reminded just how awestruck I was at the overwhelming love of the Father to me. I have done nothing to earn or deserve such fathomless love yet He loves. In fact, if my story is told, there have been many things in my life that would seemingly disqualify me for ANY of the Lord’s blessings. Yet, His great love for us He has given me SO much that I could not even begin to truly and accurately declare.

I am thankful with a full heart for the intangible gifts the Father has bestowed upon me and my family.

I don’t know where you are in your walk with the Lord currently, maybe you are in a dry season, a desert place. Maybe you are soaring in the Glory of His goodness. Wherever you are, take the time to reflect and thank Him for the many blessings in your life, great and small. You may be surprised at your list.

Grace and peace,
May God Bless You,
Alan & Renee

ISRAEL UPDATE!!!!

An opportunity has been presented for me to go to Israel with a team from Springhouse Smyrna in February 2016!!!

It has long been a desire and prayer of my heart to go to the Holy Land. I have wanted to see the historical sites and walk in the footsteps of my Lord in the land God gave His chosen people. To be able to see the places of the treasured stories in God’s Word and have them “come alive” in a life changing way.

While there with the group I will have the opportunity to share a teaching or two at a couple of the sites and even participate in a Water baptism in the Jordan River.

The cost for this trip is between $3600 – $4000. Thus far $2200.00 has been raised toward this goal!! Hallelujah!!!

I would like to ask you to pray for the fundraising efforts and opportunities for me between now and the payment deadline to reach this goal. This trip is above and beyond my budgeted and expected Mission’s trips for 2015-2016.

If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution towards this trip you may do so by sending your gift to:
