A Call to Righteousness!!!

Well, here we are in the first quarter of 2016 and Spring is nearly upon us. The trees are beginning to blossom, the grass is greening up, squirrels, birds and wildlife is stirring about. It is a blessed time of year coming out of the cold, barren and seeming lifelessness of the winter months.

As I began to pray in January for the Lord’s direction for my personal life, ministry within my local church and at large through Coffee Cup ministries I sensed the Holy Spirit giving me three words: Righteousness, Holiness and Godliness.

I have begun a word study and scripture study of righteousness and how it applies to me personally, the Body of Christ at large and to the unbelieving.

I know in and of myself there is NO true righteousness. There is really nothing good in my life in and of my doing. Yes, I may do some good deeds, say good or kind word and care for people. But these things while seemingly to be of some good account really and truly are nothing of my own volition and accord. ONLY by, through and in the power of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ does ANY of it count for the Kingdom.

I sense the Father is taking me on a journey this year to renew my understanding of MY righteousness IN Him and what that is to look like to my family, my fellow believers in the local Body and to the unbelieving that He brings across my path.

I have posted below just a ‘few’ of the many, many scriptures that I have come across in my journey of rediscovery on righteousness thus far. I pray the Lord would use some of these to encourage, edify, and comfort you in your walk.

Abram, example of righteous relationship

Genesis 15:6
And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Our Actions in Righteousness

Deuteronomy 6:25
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

Hosea 10:12
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Righteousness can bring reward

2 Samuel 22:21
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

2 Samuel 22:25
Therefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Habitation in His Presence

Psalm 15:1-3King James Version (KJV)
15 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

Psalm 97:2
Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

Equity

Psalm 98:9
Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Promise of Life

Proverbs 10:2
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Proverbs 11:4
Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Proverbs 12:28
In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Peace thru Righteousness

Isaiah 32:17
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.

James 3:18
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Righteousness not of our Own

Isaiah 61:10
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Jeremiah 51:10
The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.

1 Corinthians 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

May you find the righteousness of the Lord to be made evident and strong in your life and shine forth to all who you encounter that the righteousness of Christ IN you draw them to Him.
